Ever come in and talk to someone David, Assistant Manager great guy. One of the many places to eat when in Gilbert. The food is great and is worth every penny. Also is worth the time.
Came to this location 3 times so far and I like it! I've dined in and also went through the drive through to order and service has been quick. My kids get their hot dog from the kids menu and one of my favorite is the Italian beef bowl with onion rings. The place is pretty spacious inside and clean. You can also order upfront or on their self order screen to order and it's pretty easy and quick. Food is also pretty food!
Went to a later dinner (8:45pm) and it was relatively empty. Very spacious inside with many tables. Likely fills up at popular times like the Tempe Marketplace location. Fun antiques and older posters/pictures scattered about. Ordered a jumbo Chicago dog with everything and onion rings. Good size and was just enough food for me, but my son needs 2 to fill up. Really tasty as they use high quality ingredients. The onion rings are crunchy and tasty as well. They have burgers, salads, desserts and a bar counter with limited selection (I think there were 3 or 4 beers on tap). Good variety of food and drink options for larger groups. Service seemed a little slow for how few people were there. Also a little disappointing that salt and pepper is not out for the customers to grab, need to ask for it from the food counter...and then I got one packet of each.
This review is specifically for their salads. I'm not a fan of their other stuff (personal preference) but the salads, they are actually really good! I shared the Greek salad and Spicy Chicken salad with my friends and since then they've came back by themselves to get more. The spicy chicken salad is my favorite as there is a lot of ingredients in it, notable little pastas. It is very filling. I would recommend for people who are on the go. Interior is really interesting and quirky. Staff is also very enthusiastic. It is an experience for sure. Very American vibes.
We were in Gilbert and wanted a quick bite and the food was pretty good! We ordered the 2 hotdogs (garden dogs) with mustard, peppers, tomato's, relish, onions, ADD ketchup, with a large fry and drink. $18 was the total. This is the only vegan/veggie option. If you are hungry and thinking about sharing this meal, think again. Might want to order 2 of these. Place is pretty spacious and I love a place that has outdoor sitting which was a plus. It took about 10 minutes for our order to be completed, maybe because it was the garden dog, but the wait wasn't too bad. Would definitely come again!
I like this Portillo's location near SanTan Village in Gilbert. It is a 7,800 square-foot space that has a retro garage theme to it. It also has a large parking lot. Portillo's is a chain that originated in Chicago in the early 60's and are known for their Chicago-style hot dogs. There are lots of photos on the wall that pay homage to their early days. Besides their hot dogs, I love the Italian Beef with Peppers, Onion Rings, Broiled Chicken Sandwich and the Chocolate Cake Shake. I recently came here and got to try one of their new salads off their menu. My first Portillo's experience was actually in Chicago. I remember trying my first Chicago-style dog and really enjoying it. Ever since my first trip to the Windy City back in 2012, Portillo's locations have been popping up all over the Valley. We have a lot of people from Chicago that live here and lately AZ has become home to many of their restaurants. When the employees call your number, they like to do it in a rhyme over the microphone. This location also has a drive-thru.
